We are a Thinking Map School.
Thinking maps give students the chance to create concrete images of abstract thoughts. Our class lessons are focused and aligned with the standards. Intervention programs in reading and math are built into the schedule to address the needs of all learners. Nurturing positive relationships is a school priority, as relationships are critical to student achievement and school improvement. Students understand that while reading, writing and math are important, it is equally important to be respectful, responsible and practice safe behaviors.

Creating a community of lifelong learners.
At Honaunau Elementary, parents are valued as partners and take an active role in their children’s learning. The school is committed to developing thoughtful readers, writers and mathematical thinkers, and teachers hold students to high expectations.
