Today I had grades K, 1, and 2. We had a nice and easy class working on keyboarding practice and a few games.
We started the class with Keyboarding Without Tears. Some of our students have unlocked new levels like "Off To Work", "Let's Eat", and "On the Go". These students usually are able to log onto a computer at home. If you would like to have access tot his program at home, please contact the office and we can get you started!
After Keyboarding, we worked on a new game. With this website, you can make your own Kaleidoscope.
All of my classes loved this activity. Students were able to figure out all of the buttons themselves. I'm so happy I have such savvy students here at Honaunau!
Today I want to share with you a few links that I have been visiting.
For typing practice I keep coming back to Keybr. I have been using this with classes and to practice my own typing. It's a great site to up your typing speed. I love that they show the keyboard on screen. The visuals make it very easy to recognize finger placement on the keys.
Are you having trouble making an image smaller? Or reducing the size of a file? I have used this site with great success. Do you need to make a picture smaller before sending an email? Change a file from a PDF to a Jpeg? Word to PDF? Merge PDF files? This site does it all! Navigating software for converting and compressing files can be confusing. This site handles the job with ease!
Also, May Day is almost here! Please support Honaunau School in this annual event. It goes to support many of the little things that make school special for students here. For more info, please contact the office on ways you can help.
There will be a May Day Meeting on Thursday, April 16th at 6:00 pm in the cafeteria.
Both classes also had the chance to use Keyboarding Without Tears. If you would like your student to have access to the program at home, please contact the school and we can get your child set up!
