Can you believe January is already over? 2015 has only just begun and our students are still working their way through Keyboarding Without Tears (KWT).
Kindergarten worked on KWT as well as chekcing on some of the fun and beautiful sites the web has to offer. They looked at Koalas to the Max and had some fun revealing images with the mouse, Bouncy Balls for some virtual bouncing fun, and ABCya and PBS Kids for a few games.
First Grade also worked on KWT. They all seemed to be trying to work on their home keys in class. Remember those pesky home keys? ASDF for the left hand, and JKL; for the right! They also played a bit of Tetris at the end of class! This age is the perfect time to speed up computer keying and Tetris is a great way to work on using the arrow keys
Second Grade also worked on KWT. They are working on memorizing the home keys and using both hands to type. They finished up class with a round of Tetris and are hopefully on to a great weekend.
Happy Aloha Friday!
Computer class is on every resource Friday for the rest of the year. In class, we practice typing as well as computer tips and tricks. As students become more confident with the computer, they become better problem solvers and logical thinkers. I try to make class fun and interesting while teaching the essential skills for computer savvy students. On this blog, I will be posting some of the fun things we are learning in class so students can revisit some of their favorite sites. You can also check the Fun Links for computer class approved games.
